Make sure your D&D Beyond and Discord accounts are linked

Do a !ddb
in the #avrae
(or equivalent) channel, and Avrae will then acknowledge that the account linkages are working

If you have not done so already, join the campaign
Joining the D&D Beyond campaign using the link provided by your DM
Import your character into Avrae using !import <*link to your character>*
, replacing *<link to your character>*
with the URL

Avrae will then acknowledge the import

Roll a check, save, or attack from D&D Beyond, and it should show up in Discord
